The Electrolyzer

The simplest Electrolyzer (Hydrogen Generator) in the world

The simplest Electrolyzer (Hydrogen Generator) in the world

The Electrolyzer is the heart of the Water4Gas system, that generates Hydrogen-Oxygen gas (HHO or Brown's Gas) and cools down the engine. Let's get familiar with its parts:

I'm not going to get into all the technical details. They are all in my books: where to find the parts for cheap, how to put them together, how to install, how to troubleshoot and maintain, etc. What I want to tell you is that there is no other Electrolyzer in existence today that can be made totally by hand from very low cost materials.

It's the genius of Bill Lang from Gulf Laboratories, Florida, that developed it; it was his work to raise the basic design from the dead and adapt it to modern hardware. I made small improvements here and there, but my main contribution was to document the exact sources, steps and procedures - so now everybody in the world can have it too.

Does it really work? Show me!

Water4Gas is very simple. You don't change your engine or computer. A quart-size (95O cc) container is placed somewhere under the hood. You fill it with DISTILLED WATER and a little bit of BAKING SODA. The device gets vacuum and electricity (12 Volts) from the engine, and produces HHO gas (Hydrogen+Oxygen) as shown in the video below.

The HHO gas that you see being generated, is supplied to the engine's intake manifold or carburetor. Our design is simple, effective and safe. Don't worry if it sounds complicated or you have questions, because you will get full instructions and diagrams that make it simple and clear.

Why is this better?

  1. Simplest possible design.
  2. The wire design is not only SIMPLE, it also produces more HHO for less electrical current. Why? Because the coil (spiral) creates a magnetic vortex (rotating magnetic field) that helps split the water.
  3. Can be done by anyone with basic technical skills.
  4. No need for expensive tools or a large workshop, can be assembled on a little table with a pair of pliers.
  5. Low cost to build, low maintenance costs.
  6. Easy to install in the vehicle.
  7. Designed to be easily chained to a multi-cell (several Electrolyzers hooked together for much better efficiency). This feature is gaining great popularity around the world, see below pictures from the UK (4 Electrolyzers) and the USA (6 Electrolyzers on a big semi truck):
    UK USA
  8. The only design that is both commercial, meaning that it is mass produced by many for making a living, as well as open-source and public domain so YOU can do do it too without paying any fees to anybody. For the first time, a successful Hydrogen-On-Demand design that is by the people - for the people. More on that in Day 7 of this course!

Is it dangerous?

Very dangerous - but only if you do stupid things! Hydrogen, any system using hydrogen as fuel, is not a toy! I've had people trying to ignite the hydrogen for fun...oh boy!!! They just wanted to see if it would ignite... Of course it will, dummies! Hydrogen ignites if you put a match to it, and then its flame runs at 3.5 Mach! Nothing you want chasing after you, man.

Throughout the books I have placed more than enough precaution notes, for every area that may harm you or damage the vehicle. Even when it came to toxic glues, I placed prominent warnings that you just cannot miss.

That said, Hydrogen-On-Demand technology is NOT more dangerous than the usual automotive technologies involving fuel, cooling, etc. For instance we all know that the radiator is essential to cool down the engine, and without it the car will go up in smoke. However if you open the radiator cap when hot, you're going to get hurt, is that right? The danger is not in the radiator, the danger is in ignorance and carelessness. There are safety rules and they are quite simple, but you have to know them and apply them.

If you follow the rules AS I HAVE WRITTEN THEM FOR YOU, you should not be harmed. I demonstrate my system to people almost every day and it is totally safe because I follow the rules. I never had a fire, explosion or meltdown. Follow my footsteps for maximum safety!

Let me give you a real example: in the installation chapter you will see that you MUST keep the output hose at least 4 feet long, to prevent fire hazard. Don't cut it short even if the device is closer than 4 ft. Maybe this "wastes" a dollar or two, but saves a lot of trouble! Every such precaution is highlighted in the book so you cannot miss them.

Bottom line: Hydrogen-On-Demand means that we are not storing Hydrogen! In normal operation we're using all the Hydrogen that we're producing, immediately. There is no Hydrogen storage tank to explode in case of an accident. MUCH SAFER THAN HYDROGEN CARS OR PROPANE/NATURAL GAS VEHICLES in my humble opinion.

But isn't it dangerous to use glass jars?

No danger that I know of. I have never seen any of the glass jars crack or break. One Friday afternoon I was cleaning my 6 jars from the Toyota. All 6 jars were already cleaned thus almost invisible, standing in line at the curb. My neighbor didn't see them and backed her car right on top of them. They were thrown to the road with great noise. I thought to myself: "Now THIS is damage!"

But when I picked the jars up from under her wheels, none of them was cracked, chipped or damaged in any way! Not a scratch!

However if you are concerned about using glass, a VERY durable plastic substitute is provided in the book. Not a cookie jar or any other food container - do not use cheap plastic containers because I have seen them melt in less than 10 minutes of operation.

Simple and Affordable Sysytem

Do you want the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM you need to start SAVING FUEL in your car or truck? Here is what you need:

  1. The Electrolyzer produces Brown's Gas: Hydrogen & Oxygen for your engine,
  2. The MAP Sensor Enhancer tunes your computer to maximum fuel economy.

  3. Fuel Additives from the hardware store, not from the autoparts supply store.

You will find that these devices are very powerful, but also that each device is simple enough to build in a couple of hours from low-cost hardware. Once you have these "appetizers" in action, and you feel the power of this technology to save fuel in your car or truck, I'm sure you will get the appetite to check out the rest of the technology revealed to you. It will actually be a good idea if you start with this minimum and then grow your Hydrogen-On-Demand system in several easy phases.

In Water4Gas e-books each device is described in its own separate chapter, so it is easy to pick and choose what you need and want. You will find all the knowledge you need to successfully install, operate and fine-tune your Water4Gas system for maximum fuel economy.

1. Electrolyzer

hhoThe Water4Gas Electrolyzer (some call it "Hydrogen Generator") is Bill Lang's unique design. It has SPIRAL electrodes rather than plates, thus producing MORE HHO - for LESS energy from the battery. Contained in a quart-size highly durable jar. Looks fragile but it's not! We've never seen any of these jars break or crack, in thousands of miles of day-to-day road tests and I'm still using the same jar from 2006. TOMORROW WE'LL DISCUSS AND DEMONSTRATE THIS PART IN DETAIL.

A "Vaporizer", however, is NOT an Electrolyzer. It does not have the metal electrodes. It's just a jar for water and a bubbler - it adds water vapor to the engine to cool it down, improves combustion and somewhat improve fuel economy (depending on the engine and fuel control system). Also serves as part of the "charged water system" that you will learn about in Water4Gas e-books.

1The Vaporizer shown to the right is a technology some 85 years old - we have official US patents from the 1920’s describing this technology as the common knowledge of those days! The device simply adds water vapor to the normal mixture of gasoline and air, and has most of the benefits of its bigger brother, the HHO device.

Some say it has its origins in the fog of WW II, where it is said to have been used on U.S. aircrafts during that war. One story has it that as pilots flew their aircraft close to the surface of the water, they noticed a dramatic increase in the power and performance of their engines. For reasons that remain obscure, this technology has never reached the public.

What we have done is researched today’s technology and SIMPLIFIED the technology using readily available parts and materials, to bring you devices that are both very simple, very affordable and at the same time very POWERFUL. Our development also makes it easy for you to use, maintain and even duplicate our Water4Gas technology if you choose to.

2. Fuel Heater

The Fuel Heater pre-heats your gasoline for better gas economy, using only energy from the radiator that gets wasted otherwise. Absolutely NO modifications done to the radiator or its hoses!

3. Low-Cost Additives

Several formulas are given in my books, mainly based on Xylene (Xylol) (some with optional Acetone). Xylene can be obtained cheaply from hardware stores (paint department) and helps to atomize the fuel so it can be broken easily into smaller particles. This enhances combustion and saves much more money than it costs.

ADDITIONAL ADD-ON DEVICES

A) MAP Sensor Enhancer: this electronic device that reduces fuel consumption without modifying the engine or the computer – an absolute must have for great fuel economy! MORE DETAILS ABOUT THIS DEVICE IN DAY 5 OF THIS COURSE.

B) PCV Enhancer: another great companion to your hydrogen system that improves the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) function, protects your engine and saves gas.

C) Mechanical and electrical installation hardware:

  • Fuse holder + wiring. Connect to the 12 volts.
  • Vacuum T-connector: helps you splice the vacuum line for feeding the hydrogen and oxygen into the engine. Not necessary for diesels due to the lack of vacuum.
  • Two vacuum hoses, 3.5 feet each.
  • Bungee cords, 8" cable straps (for Electrolyzer), 11" cable straps (for Fuel Heater), flex tubing (to protect the wiring harness). For some systems you'll also need 1/4" vinyl tubing.
  • Catalyst: household Baking Soda - totally safe catalyst! "Catalyst" means a substance that helps the electricity separate water into HHO. Distilled water alone does not conduct electricity so nothing would happen without this material. Can be obtained cheaply at your grocery store.

4. Engine Modifications???

Water4Gas requires no modifications to the engine, computer or fuel injection systems, therefore any backyard mechanic can install it easily.

BASIC PRINCIPLES - Water-Hydrogen-Oxygen

Water has the chemical structure of two parts Hydrogen, one part Oxygen. This means that each molecule of water has two Hydrogen atoms and one Oxygen atom. Now, this is important only to the point that we're now going to SPLIT it into Hydrogen gas - and Oxygen gas. We want two gases, out of water. How can that be done, effectively? The simplest process is called "electrolysis" - Water4Gas.

Electrolysis means "electric-splitting". It involves the passage of an electric current through, in general, a substance that is either molten or dissolved in an aqueous solution (water with a substance dissolved in it). In our appication of this principle, the liquid is Bi-sodium Carbonate (pure Baking Soda) in distilled water. This electrical current results in a chemical reactions at the electrodes. The negative electrode is called the cathode, and the positive electrode is the anode.

An electrical current is applied between a pair of electrodes immersed in a liquid solution. Each electrode attracts ions (electrically charged particles) that are of the opposite charge. In other words, positively-charged ions (Hydrogen) move towards the cathode, while negatively-charged ions (Oxygen) move toward the anode. The energy required to separate the particles, and cause them to gather at the respective electrodes, is provided by an electrical power supply such as a battery or alternator.

WikiPedia offers a diagram demonstrating this principle IN THE LAB (not in a vehicle):

Electrolysis

The amount of electrical energy that must be added doesn't have to be great, but at the end of the process, some energy is always lost. I mean, if we try to extract energy DIRECTLY out of the resulting Hydrogen and Oxygen, we're going to gain nothing due to the heat losses and electrical losses.

Some energy is released in the form of heat, which, in the case of electrolyzing water, will create some water steam or vapor - but not useful energy. In some cases, for instance, in the electrolysis of steam into hydrogen and oxygen at high temperature, the opposite is true. Heat is absorbed from the surroundings, and the heating value of the produced hydrogen is higher than

the electric input. It is worth noting that the maximum theoretic efficiency of a fuel cell is the inverse of that of electrolysis. Therefore it's impossible to create a perpetual motion machine by combining the two processes.

A higher current flow (amperage) through the cell (Electrolyzer) means it will be passing more electrons through it at any given time. This means a faster rate of Hydrogen pull at the cathode and a faster rate of Oxygen pull at the anode. This creates higher production of Hydrogen and Oxygen per minute.

Electrolysis of water can be observed by passing direct current from a
battery or other DC power supply through a cup of water (in practice a saltwater solution increases the reaction

intensity making it easier to observe). Using platinum or stainless steel electrodes, hydrogen gas will be seen to bubble up at the cathode, and oxygen will bubble at the anode. If other metals are used as the anode, there is a chance that the oxygen will react with the anode instead of being

released as a gas. For example, using iron electrodes in a sodium chloride solution electrolyte, iron oxide will be produced at the anode, which will react to form iron hydroxide. When producing large quantities of hydrogen, this can significantly contaminate the electrolytic cell -

which is why iron is not used for commercial electrolysis.

Explosive Stuff!

We'll learn more about the Water4Gas Electrolyzer in Day 4 of this course. But here's just a little demonstration of the power of electrolysis - it produces a very combustible gas, as demonstrated

in the video below. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. The plastic bottle in the video has been filled with gas produced from WATER, by simple

electrolysis:

Is it possible to generate Free Energy in my truck/car?

Absolutely!!! But how?

Miracles? No, no, no.

You generate free energy by ENHANCING the EFFICIENCY of your poorly designed

engine!!!

Here's the PROBLEM: Your engine uses 20% of the energy stored in that expensive fuel - a
nd WASTES 80% for heat, pollution (unburned fuel!) and vibration.

SOLUTION:
You can and should reduce waste with Water4Gas technology = "free energy" for you!

There's more to it. Read on...u generate free energy by ENHANCING the EFFICIENCY of your poorly designed engine!!!

Here's another look at the same issue...one elderly man left me an angry and confused message that said something like this: "My high-school teacher said you cannot get more energy out of hydrogen to pay for the energy you have put in!?" And he added that if I don't give him an explanation within two days, he's going to report me, as fraud, to the Federal Government... My answer was:

Your teacher may have been correct. I don't know. This is NOT what we are doing here with Water4Gas. We do NOT try to drive our cars on Hydrogen energy. We just take EXCESS energy out of the car's battery or alternator (in other words very low current

that the engine does not feel) and use this electricity to generate a very small amount of Hydrogen per minute. What that Hydrogen does is help split the gasoline/air mixture droplets into a finer mist - thus helping it burn more efficiently and more completely.

Now HOW do we do it? This is explained in my books and on this website as well. Water is being split into Hydrogen and Oxygen with a simple home-made device, and fed into the UNCONVERTED engine (same gasoline system, same computer, etc.) It's just a BOOSTER. The car does not run on Hydrogen. The car runs on gasoline!!!

In other words: the "paradox" comes from misunderstanding: you are looking into Hydrogen as a source of energy. But Water4Gas is NOT about hydrogen as a source of energy. It is about burning gasoline a little bit better by reducing its droplet size in the gasoline/air mixture with the help of a SMALL

amount of Hydrogen+Oxygen.

So again, Water4Gas is a technology based on splitting water (electrolysis) on board a vehicle, and using the resulting Hydrogen and Oxygen gases. However, we do NOT use them to drive the vehicle - but only to boost the efficiency of its FUEL combustion. 100% water cars are not in our scope of activity.

Water4Gas is a Do-It-Yourself technology, specifically designed for beginners with no special tools and very limited budgets. A complete working system can be built at home with basic hand tools for $20-$100, installed in minutes and removed in seconds.

No modifications to the engine, computer or fuel injection systems, therefore any backyard mechanic can install it easily.

What can be called "water-fuel technology" is very old - over 91 years! All we've done is raise it from the dead and develop a simple structure based on low cost hardware. Although there is a

large number of hydrogen generating (Electrolyzers) designs out there, ours is the simplest and also the safest for the beginner. The electrolyzer, bubbler and water reservoir have all been combined into one super-simple device.

Another technological advantage is the employment of coiled/spiraled electrode WIRES - rather than flat plates or spiraled plates. The magnetic vortex created by the coil assists water splitting, so we don't need as much power from the car's electrical system, thus simplifying the system even further and lowering its cost.

Three major factors work together to cause water splitting: direct current flowing through the electrode wires to the water, the magnetic vortex created by the shape of the electrodes, and the vacuum provided by the engine itself.

In a nutshell, the effects of Water4Gas technology is lowered emissions and improved mileage, thanks to a MORE COMPLETE COMBUSTION. Today's internal combustion engines suffer from poor efficiency of 20%-25%, as any mechanic will tell you; 75%-80% of the gasoline,

instead of being converted to forward motion, is instead converted to pollution and carbon deposits (unburned fuel), as well as heat (global warming), vibration and noise.

THE MAIN PROBLEM IS OVERSIZED FUEL DROPLETS IN THE MIXTURE. The Hydrogen, being the smallest particle in nature, hits a droplet, cuts it into smaller droplets and attaches itself to the smaller droplets. Now the finer, hydrogen-enhanced gasoline mist, is capable of burning more thoroughly.

Water4Gas technology is not capable of running a car on water alone. Our aim is not to replace gasoline but to enhance it - and open the door and the mind to the possibilities of water-fuel technology. With correct fine tuning we can double a vehicle's mileage, rendering a new energy balance: half gasoline, half water. Very little water is used, in an economy car it's around 2700 miles per gallon of distilled water, together with 4-6 teaspoons of household baking soda as catalyst. We have demonstrated how the fuel

consumption of a generator can also be cut in half.

Not all cars, loads and driving conditions will gain the same, obviously. For ethical reasons we do not build up expectations for more than 10%-50% improvement in fuel economy, however we are getting daily success stories from experimenters who are seeing gains of 80%-100% in various vehicles. For some, significant economy gains inflict a revelation that something can be done about it, while for others it's a life changing factor.

Splitting Water for fun & profit

Water4Gas sells books that teach EVERYTHING about the technology and how to manufacture it, and we're also sponsoring a free marketplace where sellers and buyers of actual systems can find each other and trade without

interference and without any fees paid to Water4Gas. Like in the golden Age of Greece: no police, no tax, very little government.

At the time of writing (January 2008) we have more than 9000 satisfied customers, over 600 registered independent manufacturers/installers, and a large number of affiliates promoting us all over the world. In fact 85% of our sales occur via affiliates, and more are joining due to the generous 50% commission rate and the skyrocketing popularity of the product, the friendly technology and our no-secrets policy.

The way businessmen and marketers from all over the world see it, Water4Gas is like a franchise that's almost too cheap to be believable.

If and when they cross the belief level barrier, they join and stay with us.

All in all, Water4Gas has become a buzzword for practicality and affordability. Our policy is to guide the readers toward a mindset of an experimenter rather than a robotic driver that takes things for granted. We teach them that something can be done about gas prices, pollution and global warming, and they gladly take an active role and help us spread the word.

At the time of writing the technology is only for gasoline and diesel cars and trucks. However many of our experimenters are working on adaptations to propane/LPG/CNG propelled vehicles, as well as boats and other applications such as stationary generators.

We're getting daily requests from business people around the world, as well as inventors inspired by our success, requesting that we work with them to advance their goals and purposes. We help as much as we can, including bridging the gap between investors and inventors, as well as between inventors/developers seeking to complement their technologies with supporting ones (such as a bridge we've created between a British fuel cell and an American pure-hydrogen generator).

Thus Water4Gas has emerged and evolved in one year from a small home-based business to become a global junction for water-fuel technologies, inspiration and leadership.

Tomorrow we'll start looking into the technicalities of Water4Gas technology: how can we create a SIMPLE and even more importantly AFFORDABLE system to do Electrolysis and "free
energy" effects in a modern vehicle.

Handling Insane Gas Prices!!!

What can YOU do about insane gas prices?

Let's start from the end - happy mileage. That's what we all want! To pay less at the pump. Is that what you want too? Wouldn't it be nice to ALSO clean up the atmosphere, prevent global warming - and enjoy a smooth ride?

I'm driving a Toyota Corolla 1999. According to the EPA (the guys in charge of protecting the environment in the USA) my car is supposed to do 25 MPG in the city - up to 33 MPG on the highway. The photos below (taken a few seconds apart with cruise control at 52 MPH) show my performance on the 101 freeway: an average of 63.1 MPG. The actual gas consumption was found to be very close to the readout: 61.13 MPG. Is that good or what? Well, my car has a Water4Gas system that I've built and installed myself. And I'm not a mechanic. More on Water4Gas system as this course rolls down.

If you think there are camera tricks here, you should test it in your own vehicle and find out the truth.

HOW COME THIS IS NOT PART OF NORMAL CAR TECHNOLOGY?

I'm sure you have asked yourself some disturbing questions, such as:

  • If all this is so great, then why don't the major automakers incorporate these low-cost devices in their car designs?
  • Don't they want to sell more? They'll be able to sell more cars if they'd make them more efficient!
  • How come they don't teach these things at school?
  • How come the media doesn't tell us about it?

These are good questions! You ARE a thinking man. You are NOT stupid. Unfortunately somebody else is stupid. That is to say, short sighted. What happens in actual fact is that the auto factories are not independent. They are directed and controlled by greater forces of economy and other vested interests. Short sighted, yet powerful (filthy rich, that is) businessmen, direct the general flow toward lower and lower gas economy. They want you to waste gas.

That's the reason for all those gas hogs on the road. Lately they dropped in sales because people are starting to realize what a trap they have been led into: temporarily affordable gas prices, and giant SUV's pushed on us as the fashionable thing to have; the automakers and the advertising machine that serves them have pushed everybody and his wife to purchase a great “Sport Utility” vehicle that never sees any more sport than hurrying up to a show-off party or shopping at the mall.

We've been conditioned to think “performance”, and we started to think in terms of “GOOD VEHICLE equals FANCY equals BIG AND STRONG equals SHOW OFF equals HORSEPOWER” and so forth. Look at the endless stream of TV ads for huge vehicles and luxury sports cars. Nobody is trying to sell mileage.

They want you to waste gas and they want engines to run hot and burn valves and pistons and lubricating oil, and they want the systems in your vehicle to clog itself up with unburned fuel. THEY THINK THEY WILL SELL MORE CARS THAT WAY AND IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING FOR THEM. For a while, only for a while (short sighted, I said) because they are destroying the economy and the planet for their own sons and daughters.

Automakers know they have poorly designed vehicles – and the fact that every car MUST have, by law, a large and expensive catalytic converter - is an admission that they don't burn gasoline correctly in those new designs. The function of the catalytic converter is to burn AND WASTE all the unburned fuel - caused by poor engine design!!!

George Wiseman from Eagle Research, Canada, says:

Fuel injection systems are actually designed to prevent efficient combustion!

Dennis Lee from Better World Technologies, USA, says:

The computerized fuel injection system is a gatekeeper that is designed to prevent after market devices that are designed to improve fuel economy. If you wonder why Detroit would be involved in that, unburned fuel eventually wears down engines so they do not last much past the warrantee. They call it “planned obsolescence”.

Lou LaPointe from Bright Technologies, USA, calls this planned behavior "Detroit Fever". He says:

...they have sabotaged newer car computers with programming to detect high mileage and then RICHEN the mixture so you cannot maintain high mileage.
...The problem became known as Detroit Fever. The cause was the anti-mileage computer programming in new cars...the problem grows worse every year because they know they can get away with it by selling horsepower.
...the catalytic converter HIDES the fact of bad Thermal Efficiency from the car owner...You will be forced to buy a new car sooner. This situation is a direct violation of the Clean Air Acts passed in recent years.
...The fact that you are not getting good mileage is not because your car has but limited economy. It is because your car programming simply will not allow it.
...whenever you make some mileage-improving change to your engine and/or to the fuel it is swallowing, your on-board computer will eventually detect the good MPG change and reverse it. Yes, that is true. Although it may take a tank or so of gas before the computer figures out what was done, it will eventually richen the mixture again, effectively snuffing out any temporary good mileage boost you may have gained. Luckily, there is a simple cure...You can get good mileage and help save Earth next week, next month--rather than years from now.

gas prices at $5

Cars developed in Japan are more mileage- and environment-friendly, but are not fantastically better. There is actually not ONE really good car in all those glittering show rooms around town. Electric hybrids, you said? I hear you. Those are fantastic and quiet in the parking lot, gliding near you with barely a whisper. But on the highway they are in the same stinking ballpark as everybody else.

According to a recent study by WantToKnow.info, a worldwide research group, since 1908 and the Ford-T, the average mileage DROPPED by almost 40%!

While every other technology soared through the roof during these past 100 years - MPG has become twice as bad. Do you see a pattern yet?

And when you see that all this is happening in spite of severe warnings against planetary destruction and oil dependability being a national hazard, you can clearly see that we're dealing with criminals. In positions of power, but criminals just yet. To rely upon them to correct the situation is a big waste of time. Why? Because once they have done a crime, they MUST continue to do it in order to justify their actions. They have no plans to correct their car designs any time soon.

Have you watched the movie “who killed the electric car?” It is not a new scene. For many years, from time to time a too-good of a design slips by their watchful eye into the market. Soon after, that model is recalled and disappears (it's not ancient history – Toyota's 100-MPG Eco Spirit has been “erased” only a couple years ago). They know what they are doing.

YET SO DO WE. We know what we are doing – we are filling up the gap LEFT BY AUTOMAKERS, and we're doing it by detecting and testing any doable and affordable gas economy trick under the sun; but not only that - we also teach it to others! This is a grassroots movement that will win by numbers. Quiet numbers of DOERS, not TALKERS.

We ask you to lead the way and show the way to your friends, your family and the people of your country. Your family's future relies on what you do here and now.
